| Bicycle theft is on the rise at UCSD: A recent article published in the UCSD Guardian reported that bicycle theft has increased 120 percent compared to 2002. The article explains that most bikes that were stolen were insufficiently secured; not locked to a bicycle rack correctly, secured with an easily cut chain or wire, or not locked at all. In order to prevent your bicycle from being stolen use a heavy-duty steel shackle U-lock like those made by Kryptonite or others and lock at least the frame of the bicycle to a secure bike rack.
